Description
"Okay, please, don't worry about bringing a phone," Nadhira instructed.
"Confirmed," Hasana replied.
"What on earth are you two plotting?" Abdul asked suspiciously.
"Hey, what business is it of yours, you busybody gossip?" Hasana fired back, twisting her mouth mockingly at him.
"My brother-in-law!!!" Nadhira called out to him teasingly.
"Wait, I seriously don't get it—why do you two just randomly call yourselves these names?" Hasana interrupted.
"Calm down, my Hasy. I will give you all the juicy gossip after you complete your mission," Nadhira said, winking at her.
"There is definitely something fishy going on between you guys," Abdul noted, shaking his head.
"And it's absolutely none of your business," Hasana snapped.
"Silly girl..." he muttered.
"It's okay, guys. My brother-in-law, could you please drop her off at home for me?" Nadhira requested, giving him a knowing wink.
"No way! I'll head back on my own, he doesn't need to drive me," Hasana protested, pouting.
"No, Hasana, let him take you. Please do it for me," Nadhira pleaded.
"Fine... only for you, bestie," Hasana relented.
"Thanks, dear. And as for you, Abdul, I know you won't refuse, if only for the sake of your older brother," Nadhira said.
"Look, you are really testing me. First of all, who exactly is his brother?" Hasana asked, widening her large eyes in confusion.
"Because he's the one I am going to marry," Nadhira answered simply, winking at her again. Hasana just laughed, picking up her side bag.
"Hey, meet me in the car, and hurry up," Abdul called out, intentionally trying to provoke her.
"I absolutely will not hurry!" she shot back, twisting her mouth. He grunted and walked out, leaving Nadhira laughing at their bickering.
"Oh, so you're laughing at me too? Fine, I'm leaving," Hasana said, storming out as if she were deeply offended. Seeing her best friend storm off in annoyance, Nadhira quickly hurried after her.
"Come on, bestie, please forgive me! I am so sorry," Nadhira pleaded, playfully holding her own ears in apology.
"It's okay, dear. You'll hear from me later," Hasana said.
"Thanks, dear—and remember, make absolutely no mistakes."
"Trust me," Hasana assured her just as Abdul's car began to move.
Mumy's Suspicions
Their departure perfectly coincided with Mumy walking out of the house. Spotting Nadhira looking remarkably elegant—like an Indian woman—Mumy adjusted her medicated reading glasses. As Nadhira turned around intending to head back inside, she spotted Mumy, walked over, and greeted her politely.
"Oh, it's you! I genuinely thought we had a foreign guest," Mumy said with a warm smile.
"But you know, my son doesn't like women who use hair extensions, because I can see you've even added fake eyelashes," Mumy added pointedly. It was only then that Nadhira realized she wasn't even wearing her headscarf (dankawali). A wave of intense embarrassment washed over her, unlike anything she had ever felt before.
"It's fine, just go and adjust it, okay?" Mumy gently advised. Nadhira nodded quickly and hurried inside. Mumy watched her walk away, a sudden seed of deep suspicion planting itself in her mind regarding the girl.
"I must have an investigation carried out on you, because you cannot be trusted blindly," Mumy muttered to herself as she walked back into the house.
The Driving Lesson and Phone Number Scheme
Meanwhile, on Hasana and Abdul's side, the moment they arrived right in front of her house, she told him to stop. As she attempted to exit, he suddenly hit the central lock button on the car.
"Malam, what is the meaning of this?" she asked, her face instantly frowning.
"Hmm... you need to give me your eleven digits," Abdul said, nervously scratching the back of his neck.
"What on earth is an 'eleven digits'?" she demanded, looking dead serious. Realizing that she genuinely did not understand the slang for a phone number, he laughed as a clever trick popped into his head. He surreptitiously tossed his phone to the side of his seat.
"Alright, let me ask my brother's future wife for you," he pretended to search around.
"What exactly are you looking for?" she asked, rapidly losing her patience with sitting there.
"I'm looking for my phone. Oh gosh, I hope I haven't lost it," he lied convincingly. They both began frantically searching for an object that wasn't actually missing.
"Can you please lend me your phone so I can flash mine?" he requested. Without any hesitation, she handed her phone over, desperately wanting to know what "eleven digits" meant. He took it, dialed his own number, and immediately his phone began ringing right beside his seat.
"Oh, look, it just fell down!" Hasana exclaimed. Abdul had to force himself to suppress a massive burst of laughter. He picked up his phone and checked the screen; her special number was boldly displayed.
"What is this?" he asked, turning the screen toward her.
"It's my special phone number," she answered.
"Go ahead and count the digits," he said, smirking.
"What is the point of counting them?" she questioned.
"Just to prove something," he replied. She counted the numbers, even though she already knew how many there were.
"It's eleven digits," she answered.
"Exactly! That is the 'eleven digits' I asked you to give me. See? Now I don't even have to ask my brother's future wife," he teased, winking at her. She hissed loudly and snapped, "Open this door and let me out!" He let out a silent smile, deeply amused by how aggressively angry she was pretending to be.
"Even if you hadn't demanded it, I was going to open it anyway since this isn't your car," he joked, intentionally trying to keep the banter going as he unlocked the door.
"I'll call you later," he called out just as she stepped out of the vehicle. He waited until she safely entered her house before driving off.
A Week Later: Proposals and Secret Missions
A week flew by, during which a great deal transpired. The emotional bond between Amin and Nadhira grew intensely deep, despite primarily communicating over the phone. Amin went as far as confessing the deepest secrets of his heart to Nadhira, and she told him she would think it over.
Meanwhile, Abdul found himself deep in the ocean of love with Hasana, entirely unprompted. He would log up to 100 missed calls on her phone daily, but she never picked up, which deeply hurt him. It reached a point where he physically went to her family home, only to be informed that she had traveled. Undeterred, he requested an audience with her father and formally declared his intentions. Hasana’s father told him that once he was fully ready, he should send his parents over. Abdul was overjoyed, though a part of his mind filled with absolute dread over the massive fiery tantrum Hasana would throw when she found out.
By the very next day, the formal marriage emissaries went to ask for her hand, and the proposal was officially accepted. Since Abdul's family had conducted a background check on them from the moment he left and found absolutely no flaws, everything moved quickly.
Abba’s family had also wanted to finalize Nadhira’s marriage on that exact same day. However, to avoid family gossip, Nadhira insisted that she must first travel to inform her "Big Dady," as she could not make such a monumental life decision entirely on her own. Abba's family fully respected her boundary.
As for Hasana, she had thrown herself entirely into the undercover work that brought her there. The homeowners had fully accepted her, allowing her to closely monitor every single movement of everyone in the house. In short, her mission was running flawlessly.
The Accident
Returning to the main plot...
"Baby..."
"Yes, Abba?"
"Why don't you wheel your father outside so he can get some fresh air?" Abba suggested to Nadhira. Abba had recently visited their Anty, who had finally revealed the entire, unvarnished TRUTH ABOUT THEIR PAST. Abba had shared this with Mumy, who felt immense pity for them and fully supported marrying Amin off to Nadhira.
"That's very true, baby. You really should take him out," Mumy chimed in.
"Alright," Nadhira agreed happily, as she had long desired for him to enjoy the fresh air but felt constrained.
She went inside and wheeled him out on his wheelchair, stopping him right by the front door before slipping back inside to fetch a bottle of water. However, her father let go of the wheelchair handles because he began to nod off to sleep. Consequently, the wheelchair began rolling away on its own down the sloped incline of the driveway. It rapidly picked up speed. Just then, Nadhira stepped outside holding the water bottle and was stunned to find her father gone. She dropped the bottle instantly upon hearing a terrified scream from a distance and sprinted toward the sound.
"Innalillahi..."
The Father Awakens and Grants Forgiveness
"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un (To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return)," Mumy and Abba gasped in horror as they reached the spot where Nadhira's father had violently crashed and fallen.
"Our Dady, please open your eyes! It's your baby! Oh my God, someone do something, his head is split open!" Nadhira wailed hysterically, talking to herself as she knelt beside him. Abba immediately pulled out his phone to call a doctor, before frantically calling Amin, ordering him to return home at once, hanging up before Amin could even reply.
Shortly after, the doctor arrived. Before the doctor could even finish parking, a commercial tricycle (keke napeep) rushed in carrying Amin, who had dropped everything the moment he was called. He sprinted to the scene. Abba was surprised to see him arrive via tricycle, but now was not the time for questions.
"Bring some water," the doctor ordered. Mumy quickly fetched a bottle of water. It was splashed onto his face, causing him to let out a deep, heavy gasp.
"Brother, please help me... leave me alone. Do not harm my family as you threatened. I will give you absolutely anything you want," the father began to deliriously ramble. Seeing that his traumatic rambling was not stopping, the doctor quickly administered a sedative injection, and he drifted into a deep sleep.
They rolled out a carpet right where he lay and gently shifted him onto it. Throughout this, Baby was wrapped tightly in Mumy's embrace, weeping uncontrollably.
"My Abba, how on earth did this happen?" Amin asked, turning his gaze toward his father. Hearing his voice, Nadhira lifted her head to see who was speaking, but she could only see his back, so she lowered her face again as Abba explained the accident.
The sound of an arrival made them look toward the gate.
"Our Anty!!!" Nadhira cried out, leaving Mumy's arms and running to throw herself into her Anty's embrace, both of them weeping bitterly together.
Amin was struck with absolute bewilderment at the sight of the newcomers.
"What are they doing here?" Amin asked blankly.
"Do you know them?" Mumy questioned, surprised.
"Of course! That is my ABAR SO (Beloved) and her Anty!" Amin answered.
"Allahu Akbar! So she was your ABAR SO all along?! She is the exact same girl we told you we wanted you to marry!" Mumy revealed.
“A roasted bird delivered straight from heaven,” Amin thought joyfully to himself, though aloud he asked, "But Mumy, didn't you explicitly state that I could never take another wife?"
"Now is not the time for that discussion," Mumy brushed it off.
A few hours later, the father slowly opened his eyes. His vision was blurry at first, but it quickly cleared. Nadhira was the first to notice, and they all quickly gathered around him.
"Our Dady!!!" she cried out happily. Hearing her voice, he squeezed his eyes shut as the horrific memories of his past rushed back into his mind...
"I have slaughtered your entire family. You and them will now only meet in dreams or the afterlife," his villainous older brother's voice echoed in his memory.
"Innalillahi wa'inna illahir rajioun..." the father roared out, snapping his eyes open. The trauma was still fresh. He turned his head toward Abba's family and yelled, "He slaughtered them! He killed those innocent souls! He destroyed all of my happiness! Why didn't he just kill me too?! He knew I only lived for them... they were my other half..."
"Our Dady!!!" Nadhira interrupted, her voice cracking as she quickly reached out to touch him. He turned sharply to look into her eyes.
"Please, someone pinch me so I can wake up from this horrific nightmare," he pleaded.
"Dadynsu!!!" Anty called out softly, touching his face.
He slowly turned his face fully toward her, letting out a massive sigh of relief.
"I knew deep down my biological brother could never slaughter my family. I knew he was just playing a cruel joke... but those jokes were far too expensive. My bride, where is my Habibity? And where is Nafhira, and the unborn baby in your womb?" he asked, reaching out to touch Anty's stomach.
"Our Dady!!!" Nadhira called out, drawing his attention back to her.
"Our Baby!!! Where is your sister, and where is your Momma?" he asked, clutching her hand.
"That monster slaughtered them. He gave them the most horrific death imaginable," she stated without hesitation, breaking down exactly what he had done to them—though she deliberately hid the detail about the forced chemical injections she had endured.
"Ya Salam!!!" the father gasped, tears streaming down his face, mirroring the weeping of everyone present in the room.
"How could he be so deeply cruel? Hmmm... I completely forgive him, both in this world and the hereafter!" the father declared. Nadhira snapped her head up in absolute horror, her eyes completely bloodshot from pure shock and psychological distress. Abba's family was equally stunned.
"I don't understand—you are just forgiving him like that?" Abba asked, bewildered.
"If I do not forgive him, what else can I possibly do to him? Please remember that vengeance belongs solely to Allah, and Allah loves those who forgive. We constantly sin against Allah and He forgives us, so who am I to refuse to forgive someone who wronged me? Never forget, we came from the exact same womb; he is my own blood brother. Even if he hates me, by Allah, I still love him dearly. What is done is done, and there is absolutely nothing I can do to change the past," the father stated with absolute, unshakable resolve.
"Tabbas, that is the absolute truth. May Allah forgive us all," Abba conceded, deeply moved.
"Ameen," they all chorused, except for Nadhira—because internal family pain runs too deep.
"Thank you so much, may Allah reward you all," the father wept, thanking Abba's family.
"Don't mention it, we are family now," Abba replied.
"You can all pack your things and permanently move into this estate. We have plenty of empty residential wings, and I know it will be highly dangerous for him to see you alive out there," Abba offered wisely.
"Honestly, this is an excellent idea," Mumy supported.
"We will never be able to thank you enough," Anty wept gratefully.
"Think nothing of it, my sister. Let us thank Allah," Mumy smiled warmly. Meanwhile, Nadhira sat frozen like a statue, her mind a chaotic battleground of dark, vengeful thoughts. Amin kept his eyes glued to her, analyzing her every movement, his heart bursting with an overwhelming sense of profound love and relief.
"Where is Saleem?" the father asked.
"He's at school, but they are about to dismiss," Anty answered.
"Baby, get ready let's go pick him up, since I don't know the way to his school," Amin said smoothly, locking eyes with Nadhira.
"Excellent idea, you've done well," Anty approved, while the father smiled silently, already orchestrating a beautiful future for Amin and Nadhira in his heart.
Nadhira stood up listlessly and walked inside, followed by the loving gazes of everyone in the room.
The Vow of Vengeance and The School Run
"No... there is no way on earth I am letting this go after the sacred vow I made to my late sister..." Nadhira muttered frantically to herself like someone possessed. She walked into the bathroom and took a refreshing shower. The moment she stepped out, her phone began to ring. Seeing the name on the screen, a soft, serene smile graced her lips and she picked up.
"I'm done with my part, bestie," Hasana reported from the other end.
"You are so sweet, dear. Thank you so much," Nadhira expressed.
"Don't mention it, bestie. When should I come over?" Hasana asked.
"No, I will come over instead. Plus, our father has finally awakened," Nadhira smiled.
"Wow, Alhamdulillah! I am so incredibly happy, by Allah!" Hasana cheered loudly.
"But he declared that he has forgiven him, which is why I don't want us discussing our plans around here—I'm terrified Anty might overhear our conversation, and I absolutely cannot let that happen," Nadhira whispered darkly.
"Oh dear... but why not just let it go since he has officially forgiven him?" Hasana questioned.
"I swear by Allah, I can never let it go!" Nadhira vowed fiercely.
"Alright, it's fine. So when are you coming?"
"I think I'll drop by this evening or tomorrow," Nadhira said.
"Okay, may Allah bring us to that time safely," Hasana said.
"Ameen," Nadhira said and hung up. She quickly got dressed in a short, sleeveless white ready-made gown—her absolute favorite style. Standing before the mirror, she hissed in frustration, opened her wardrobe, and threw on a lightweight black American jacket over it. She applied her signature kohl to her eyes, followed by a nude lipstick that made her look breathtakingly beautiful. Finally, she wrapped herself in a massive black khimar, slipped into flat black covered shoes, and walked back out to the courtyard where everyone was still gathered.
"Masha Allah (What God has willed)!" Amin gasped aloud. The sudden exclamation made everyone turn toward where he was staring. They all sat with their mouths wide open, staring at Nadhira as if she were a celestial being, because her minimal makeup had amplified her beauty exponentially.
"We will be right back," Nadhira said, completely oblivious to their starstruck stares. Amin stood up and informed them they were leaving.
"Sunshine!!!" he called out to her affectionately after starting the car.
"Moonlight," she replied softly.
"How on earth were you living in our house this entire time and we somehow never crossed paths?" Amin asked.
"Honestly, I don't know either," she admitted.
"A miracle," he muttered under his breath.
"Indeed," she agreed. From that point on, a heavy silence fell over the car until they pulled up to Saleem's school.
"Why are you so quiet?" he asked gently.
"You are quiet too," she pointed out. Then, in a soft, vulnerable voice, she added, "So... you are actually married, and you never bothered to tell me?"
"I am so incredibly sorry. I just didn't want to break your heart or make you feel bad, which is why I kept it from you," he pleaded.
"But at the very least you should have told me, even if it would hurt! Why on earth would I be upset that you are married? You needed to do it, which is why you got married, and I have absolutely no right to question you for that," she spat out, though tears were already streaming down her face because she alone knew the searing, agonizing jealousy burning through her heart.
"Stop crying, my sunshine. I am profoundly sorry for hiding the truth from you, please forgive me," Amin expressed, pulling her tightly into his chest. She immediately began hitting his chest, trying to violently push him away, but he held on. He slowly loosened his grip, knowing it was pure romantic jealousy consuming her. Seeing him let go, she suddenly clamped onto him, hugging him with fierce, desperate intensity as if someone were trying to tear him away from her. He let out a sigh of relief, gently stroking her back before they finally broke the embrace.
"Look at how much you've sweated," he said, gently reaching out to unfasten her khimar.
"Take this khimar off so you can breathe. You've wrapped yourself up so heavily like some Mallam's wife," he teased as he pulled the fabric off. She burst into laughter, and he tossed the khimar into the back seat. "Masha Allah," he marvelled silently at her exposed beauty.
"They've been dismissed!" she noted, spotting the students.
"Let's go then," he said. They stepped out of the vehicle and walked into the schoolyard. The students completely stopped to stare at the stunning couple—especially at Nadhira, whose smooth, fresh legs were exposed and shining brilliantly beneath her short gown.
"Our Babynmu!!!" Saleem roared excitedly upon spotting her face, running at full speed into her arms.
"You look absolutely gorgeous, sis!" he cheered, pecking her lips and cheeks.
"Thank you, bro! I missed you like crazy, dear," she smiled.
"I missed you more, baby," he replied. Amin cleared his throat loudly, breaking up the reunion.
"It seems you've entirely forgotten you didn't come here alone," Amin noted dryly.
"Uh... honestly, whenever we see each other, we completely forget the rest of the world exists," Saleem shot back smoothly.
"Oh, really?!" Amin asked, widening his eyes in mock shock.
"Of course, yes!" Saleem smirked, playfully sticking his tongue out at him. They all laughed and piled into the car. As they settled in, Nadhira's phone rang.
"Our baby, please swing by Hasana's house and inform their Ummi that your father has finally awakened," Anty instructed over the line.
"Okay," Nadhira said and hung up.
"Let's head to our old neighborhood, I need to drop by Hasana's house," she told Amin.
"Alright, dear," he complied.
A Dramatic Encounter and A Lover's Quarrel
When they arrived in the neighborhood, every single eye locked onto their luxurious vehicle, with people desperately trying to peer through the heavily tinted windows. Nadhira's stunning, fair legs were the first things to greet the crowd as she stepped out.
"Let me go lead you inside," she told Amin as she exited the car. The onlookers stood in absolute awe, completely captivated by her breathtaking beauty, especially now that they could clearly see her face. She opened the door for Saleem, who also hopped out.
"Salim, our Anty isn't home, so we are going to Hasana's house first. Afterward, I am taking you back to our Anty, and I have a massive surprise I want to show you," she smiled broadly.
"I genuinely cannot wait! Let's hurry, I'm so nervous!" he cheered, grabbing her hand. She shut the car door and they walked into Hasana's house. Nadhira formally greeted Ummi and passed on Anty's message. She then escorted Amin into the main living room while Saleem happily began eating. Nadhira slipped directly into Hasana’s bedroom, where Hasana immediately dropped the bombshell news: Abdul’s family had formally arrived to ask for her hand in marriage! Nadhira was absolutely thrilled for her best friend. Afterward, they quickly dove right back into refining their secret operational plans...
"Let's go, I want to physically see your father today," Hasana said.
"Perfect, that would be wonderful," Nadhira agreed. They walked out of the bedroom, and Hasana said her goodbyes to Ummi. Stepping outside, they didn't find Amin in the living room, but spotted him sitting on the hood of the car waiting.
"Wait, so you two actually arrived together?" Hasana asked, stunned.
"Oops... by Allah, I completely forgot to tell you!" Nadhira admitted, revealing that Amin actually lived in the very same estate she was staying at, and that he was Abdul's older brother. Upon reaching the car, Hasana greeted him with deep, traditional respect, and they all piled into the car to head back to the estate.
Abdul had just arrived home from his office when he spotted his older brother’s car pulling into the driveway. He leaned casually against his own car, waiting for Amin to step out. However, the moment he saw who stepped out of the passenger side, his face instantly hardened into a fierce, dark scowl as if he had never smiled a day in his life.
Seeing him, Hasana quickly stepped out of the car, her face beaming with a bright, cheerful smile. But when she noticed the completely disgusted, hostile glare he was casting her way, her blood ran cold and her smile withered. Abdul slowly and deliberately marched right up to her, while Salim bolted out of the car and ran straight toward the house to find Anty, completely oblivious to the brewing storm.
"Thank you so much, may Allah reward you!" Abdul spat out sarcastically, violently turning his face away from her in absolute rage.
"Wait, what on earth is wrong, my brother-in-law?" Nadhira interjected, bewildered.
"The sheer, unadulterated arrogance and utter lack of human respect! I went out of my way to log over 100 missed calls on this girl's phone, and out of everything she could choose to do to me, she had the absolute audacity to give me exactly ONE SINGLE FLASH?!" Abdul roared, pointing aggressively at Hasana, pure unbridled fury written across his face.
"I swear to Allah I didn't see the calls, that's why I didn't answer! And when I finally tried calling you back, the network kept dropping the line, it wasn't intentional—" Hasana pleaded desperately...
Story Summary
- Strategic Alliances and Romantic Realizations: The narrative opens with Nadhira and Hasana coordinating a highly confidential, phone-free "mission". Nadhira orchestrates an opportunity for Abdul (Amin’s younger brother) to drive Hasana home, teasingly referring to Abdul as her "brother-in-law" because she intends to marry Amin. During the car ride, Abdul cleverly tricks Hasana into giving him her "eleven digits" (phone number) by pretending to lose his phone, sparking a playful, short-tempered banter between the two.
- Rising Stakes and Investigations: A week passes. Amin and Nadhira’s relationship deepens into intense romantic territory over phone conversations, though Amin hides his current marriage from her. Concurrently, Abdul falls deeply in love with Hasana, successfully securing a formal marriage proposal acceptance from her father despite Hasana being away on her secret undercover mission. Meanwhile, Mumy notices Nadhira's high-class, un-veiled look and grows deeply suspicious, vowing to launch a private investigation into her true background.
- The Sloped Incident and The Truth Unveiled: Abba and Mumy discover the tragic past of Nadhira's family from Anty and fully support Nadhira marrying Amin. However, disaster strikes when Nadhira wheels her heavily disabled father outside for fresh air; he falls asleep, releasing the handles, and the wheelchair hurtles down a sloped driveway, splitting his head open. In the chaotic medical aftermath, Anty arrives, and Amin is shocked to discover that his long-lost, cherished love (Abar So) is the exact same girl his parents are forcing him to marry.
- The Paradox of Forgiveness and Revenge: Upon regaining consciousness, the father undergoes a dramatic memory breakthrough, recalling how his own biological brother brutally slaughtered his wife, daughter (Nafhira), and unborn child. To Nadhira’s absolute horror and bloodshot fury, her father explicitly grants his brother absolute spiritual forgiveness. While Abba offers the traumatized family safe haven in an empty wing of his estate, Nadhira privately contacts Hasana via phone, fiercely swearing by Allah that she will ignore her father's wishes and execute their dark, unyielding plot for blood vengeance.

Character & Setting Analysis
Main Characters
- Nadhira (Sunshine / The Baby): A profoundly complex, vengeful heroine disguised as a childlike figure. She shows two entirely different faces: around Amin, she is a deeply affectionate, vulnerable lover who blushes at pet names and experiences searing romantic jealousy regarding his first wife. Yet underneath this soft exterior lies an unyielding, cold-blooded vigilante. She views her father’s absolute spiritual forgiveness of his brother as an insult to her slaughtered mother and sister, choosing to actively deceive her family to carry out a secret vendetta alongside Hasana. She possesses breathtaking beauty that stuns onlookers when her massive black khimar is removed.
- Doctor Al-amin (Moonlight): A highly devoted, deeply protective male lead caught between immense joy and protective caution. Discovering that his mysterious household cleaner is actually his long-lost soulmate (Abar So) feels like a divine miracle. He handles Nadhira's explosive emotional swings and romantic jealousy with deep emotional maturity, utilizing gentle physical touch and teasing banter to calm her spirits. He is highly analytical, constantly monitoring Nadhira's expressions because he senses the deep trauma she is hiding.
- Abdul: Amin’s younger brother. He is quick-witted, fiercely proud, and hopelessly in love with Hasana. He hides his deep vulnerability behind playful arrogance and teasing. He bypasses modern dating entirely by going straight to Hasana's father to secure a legal marriage contract, highlighting his traditional values. However, he possesses an explosive temper; his pride is severely wounded by Hasana's perceived romantic coldness, leading to an open, dramatic confrontation in the family driveway.
- Hasana: Nadhira’s fiercely loyal best friend and undercover operative. She is short-tempered, highly expressive, and fiercely independent, constantly engaging in verbal sparring matches with Abdul. Despite her tough exterior, she is a deeply reliable confidante who risks her personal safety to act as Nadhira's eyes and ears on her secret mission. She serves as the perfect structural foil to Nadhira's dark, brooding intensity.
The Father (Dadynsu): A deeply tragic, highly spiritual patriarch. Having survived a horrific assassination attempt by his own blood brother that cost him his leg, his health, and the lives of his wife and child, he undergoes a profound psychological awakening. He chooses absolute, unconditional Islamic forgiveness over vengeance, embodying the theme of divine destiny. This creates a massive ideological rift between him and his surviving daughter, Nadhira.
Setting Analysis
- The Estate's Sloped Driveway: A critical structural setting where physical action and emotional revelations take place. The steep slope symbolizes the uncontrollable, downward spiral of family tragedy (the wheelchair accident) and serves as the literal stage for the story's dramatic climax—where Abdul publically unloads his romantic frustrations on Hasana as the family vehicles arrive.
Hasana’s Family Neighborhood: A bustling, traditional enclave characterized by tinted-window luxury cars drawing massive crowds of curious onlookers. It represents a grounded, community-focused space where family secrets are safely kept, and traditional courtships are solidified through community elders.
Analysis of the Original Book Structure
1. Narrative Themes and Literary Devices
- The Ideological Conflict of Justice: The book establishes a brilliant, tense thematic dichotomy between Divine Forgiveness (represented by the father and Abba) and Human Retribution (represented by Nadhira and Hasana). The author frames the father's forgiveness not as weakness, but as an ultimate act of faith, which heightens the stakes of Nadhira’s secret vendetta, transforming her actions into a dark rebellion against her own family's wishes.
The Imagery of the Khimar: The author uses clothing as a profound literary device for emotional masking. Nadhira's massive black khimar represents her trauma, her secrets, and her attempts to hide her true self from high society. When Amin forcibly removes it in the car, it symbolizes his unique ability to strip away her defenses, exposing her raw beauty and vulnerability to the world.
2. Formatting Elements and Author-to-Reader Meta-Dialogue
- The Author's "Comment Strike" Ultimatum: A fascinating structural element of this text is the explicit meta-dialogue inserted by the author (Nafisat Ma'aruf Shehu) right at the peak of Chapter 88's cliffhanger. The author explicitly halts the narrative flow to address the readership directly, expressing deep personal frustration with "ghost readers" who consume the content without leaving feedback ("In ba'ayi comment bah toh babu posting" / "If you don't comment, there will be no updates"), effectively holding the resolution of Abdul and Hasana's fight hostage to drive engagement on platforms like Wattpad.
- Chapter Layout and Forum Branding: The text proudly displays its institutional background within the Gorgeous Writers Forum (G.W.F), utilizing structured header blocks and tailored sign-offs (💋💋wurarh💋💋). This formatting divides the fast-paced dramatic prose from the community-driven updates typical of serialized Northern Nigerian digital literature (Hausa Web Novels).
