Description

She walked away and entered her quarters to lie down, but she could not sleep because of her thoughts about warrior Hatyan. Suddenly, she crossed paths with the captain of the guards patrolling the palace, who asked her where she was going at such an hour.

Upon hearing this question, Queen Badi'atul Nauwara smiled and said, "It is no problem at all. I simply couldn't sleep, so I decided to come out and pay a visit to my fellow travelers to see how they are doing, especially the ailing one."

When the head of the guards heard this, he gave a small, faint smile and said, "They are fast asleep right now as well. If you could just wait until morning, it would be much better for you."

Badi'atul Nauwara shook her head and said, "No, I am quite worried. Even just a single glance at them will suffice; I won't wake them up. I beg of you to guide me to their quarters, for I do not know the way."

Without any argument, the captain of the guards turned and headed toward a different section of the palace, with Badi'atul Nauwara following closely behind him. When they arrived at Hatyan's quarters, Badi'atul Nauwara felt her heart pound with immense force, and instantly her mind became deeply troubled far more than ever before.

Nothing else caused this except intense jealousy combined with profound shock. The first thought that flashed through her mind was: Now, was this magnificent dwelling place actually here inside this palace all along, yet Anisa never placed me in it, despite the deep bond of trust between us?

No sooner had she asked herself this question than she noticed it was a newly constructed building. That was what frightened her even more, causing her to think: Indeed, Anisa loves Hatyan! But when did she start loving him when she hadn't even set eyes on him until today?

Thus Badi'atul Nauwara continued harboring these suspicions in her heart until they arrived directly at the quarters. The captain of the guards simply pointed to the door of the chamber where Hatyan and his companions were sleeping and walked away, leaving her there.

With a heavy heart, she walked up to the door, turned the knob slowly, and pulled the door open just a bit. When she peered inside, she caught sight of Hatyan and his sister Sadirat lying on a bed sound asleep. Instantly, her heart softened, and a wave of pure joy washed over her. Queen Badi'atul Nauwara spent nearly an entire hour just gazing at Hatyan, smiling to herself without realizing how much time she had spent there.

The throat-clearing of the captain of the guards startled her, making her jump like someone waking up from a deep slumber. She turned and looked at him in alarm.

The captain of the guards bowed, keeping his eyes on the ground, and said, "Your Majesty, you have been standing here for a long time, and dawn is almost breaking."

Hearing this, Badi'atul Nauwara felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her. Yawning—knowing full well he had no idea what she had been staring at—she smiled and said, "That is true. This was the only way to chase away my sleeplessness tonight." With that, she turned, walked back to her quarters, and lay down.

By the will of God, no sooner had she reclined than she began to doze off. Before a few moments had passed, a deep sleep overtook her. If anyone had entered her room at that moment, she would have suffered immense embarrassment, for she was sleep-talking and calling out the name of warrior Hatyan in her dreams.

After sleeping for only an hour and a half, Badi'atul Nauwara suddenly felt herself being shaken awake angrily. She opened her eyes, intending to see who dared wake her up so aggressively. To her absolute shock, she saw Queen Anisa herself standing over her.

With a mixture of haste and astonishment, Badi'atul Nauwara sat up, looked at Anisa, and said, "Is everything alright? Why do I see you in my room this early in the morning?"

Anisa gave a slight, confident smile and said, "King Shamsal, along with his troops and sorcerer, has arrived! In a very short time, they will be stepping into my palace."

Hearing this, Badi'atul Nauwara panicked—she had never felt her heart beat with such intensity before, as if she weren't a warrior. When Anisa noticed this, she burst into laughter, looked at her, and said, "Come on, my friend! Just because I mentioned the name of King Shamsal, you tremble like this? Have you forgotten that you are a true, immensely fortunate warrior no matter what stands before you? Have you forgotten that magic holds no power over your body? I see no reason for you to panic since misfortune is not your portion."

Hearing this, Badi'atul Nauwara nodded and said, "I do not fear whatever may befall me, for whatever bird courts the river is swept away by its current. My only worry is what might happen to Hatyan and his sister Sadirat. I would rather lose my own life than have his life wasted."

When Queen Anisa heard this, she wore a faint, forced smile, patted her shoulder, and said, "Put your mind at ease, my sister. Know that nothing will happen to you, nor to Hatyan and his sister Sadirat, as long as you are with us. Right now, this is the first thing that will protect our secrets, since King Shamsal's sorcery will not work here. At this moment, I have already hidden warrior Hatyan and his sister Sadirat deep inside this palace where no one can find them, no matter how rigorous their search. Therefore, I will hide you in a similar place. Get up, let me take you."

Without wasting time, Badi'atul Nauwara followed Queen Anisa as Anisa headed straight toward the southern wall inside the room. Upon reaching it, Anisa stroked a painted mural of a peacock. Instantly, the wall split in two, revealing a deep passageway leading into a subterranean dwelling equipped with a staircase. Anisa turned to Badi'atul Nauwara and said, "I built this place precisely for a day like today. Step inside; you will find everything you need. Even if you stay inside here, you will lack nothing—the only thing you might suffer from is loneliness."

With a deep expression of anxiety, Badi'atul Nauwara looked at Anisa and said, "Why won't you take me to where you hid Hatyan so I can be with them? And tell me, why did you give them quarters of higher prestige than mine?"

Anisa looked back at Badi'atul Nauwara with a smile for the second time and said, "Be patient, my friend. Right now, I do not have the time to give you a full explanation. But as soon as King Shamsal and his sorcerer finish their search and leave, we will sit down and you will hear everything. You know who I am, and you trust me one hundred percent; I will never harm you, just as you would never harm me. So simply do as I have commanded you."

Hearing this, Badi'atul Nauwara turned, stepped through the opening in the wall, and descended the stone staircase into the underground dwelling. As for Queen Anisa, she simply stroked the top of the peacock painting once more. Instantly, the split wall slid back together and sealed completely, as if it had never been broken.

The moment that happened, Queen Anisa spun around and quickly walked out of the chamber. Upon stepping outside, she was met by her bodyguards and senior attendants waiting for her, and they immediately fell in line behind her as she marched toward her throne room.

By this time, King Shamsal and Sorcerer Daizur had arrived inside the palace grounds, escorted by the palace chief into the grand hall.

Queen Anisa was seated majestically upon her throne, surrounded by her courtiers and subjects conducting affairs of state, when Sorcerer Daizur and King Shamsal entered. Catching sight of them from a distance, Anisa rose from her throne, her face glowing with radiance and a warm smile. She stepped forward to welcome King Shamsal, showing immense joy at his presence.

When she reached him, she took King Shamsal's right hand, kissed the top of it respectfully, and said, "A thousand welcomes to the King of Kings and the bravest hero of this entire continent! My lord, I am not surprised by this unexpected visit of yours, since you are hunting down your two enemies."

Hearing this, King Shamsal and Sorcerer Daizur remained silent for a moment before King Shamsal looked at Anisa and said, "Indeed, you speak the truth, Queen Anisa."

Anisa replied, "Ever since I heard news of your entry into my city, I ordered quarters to be prepared for you, stocked with your favorite foods and drinks. There are exquisite young maidens skilled at driving away loneliness, alongside all the foods and beverages you love most in life."

Upon hearing this, King Shamsal’s face scowled as if delivered a message of death—a reaction that terrified Queen Anisa so deeply that her liver quivered, and she felt as though she might wet her garments. However, she managed to steel herself so the king wouldn't notice her guilt, bowing her head slightly as she said, "Forgive me, O King, if my words have offended you."

Hearing this, King Shamsal stretched up and burst into a wicked, booming laugh as if without a care in the world. Then, dropping his smile, he hardened his gaze and said, "Queen, know this: whenever we are hunting enemies, we do not eat, we do not drink, and we find no pleasure—just like a lion suffering from extreme hunger that has scoured the wilderness searching for food and found nothing. I assure you that at this moment, there is no living soul in this continent whom I trust. In short, I trust no one. Anyone could betray me and harbor my enemies whom I have come to seek out myself within this city of yours to search every nook and cranny. Before I begin my search, I advise you: if you know where my enemies are, hurry and bring them forth, placing them in my hands. If you refuse and I find them inside your city, I swear by the beard of my father, I will raze this entire city of yours to the ground! I will adorn the earth with the blood of all your people; not even a single chicken of yours will escape with its life."

When Queen Anisa heard this, she offered a slight, confident smile devoid of any sign of intimidation—true to the fact that every sovereign is master in their own domain. Radiating regal pride, Queen Anisa adjusted her posture on her throne, crossing one leg over the other, and said, "O noble King, know that the gates to everywhere in this city are wide open to you to conduct your search. If you catch me guilty of hiding your enemies, I promise to take my own life before your very eyes."

Hearing this, everyone present was struck with astonishment.

For a brief second, King Shamsal's body softened, but he quickly hardened his expression, returning her look with a wicked, mocking smile as he said, "I am pleased with the step you have taken. Let me inform you that my trackers, who are experts at investigation, are on their way and will arrive in this city by tomorrow evening. Alongside them, I will carry out this work. I demand your permission to enter every single home in this city."

With a cold snort of anger, King Shamsal added, "And I swear, once we capture warrior Hatyan inside this city, I will subject this queen to a humiliation unlike anything she has ever seen in her life!" Turning to Anisa with a forced smile, he conceded, "Very well, I accept your condition. But know this: I may begin my search at any moment from now, and I may even walk into your private chambers without a veil."

Hearing this, Queen Anisa smiled. "Today, not a single door in this palace shall be locked—even the door to my own bedchamber is open to you at all times."

With that, Anisa rose from her throne, glanced at the palace steward, and said, "Take the King and his sorcerer to their quarters. Whenever he wishes to begin his search, guide him and show him everywhere throughout this palace."

Bowing, the palace steward replied, "It is done, my leader."

As Anisa turned and walked away, she was clad in a tight-fitting, long royal gown of a striking blue color, intricately embroidered with golden thread flowers. Every contour of her body was vividly outlined beneath the dress. King Shamsal lost all self-control; despite usually being indifferent to women, he was instantly mesmerized. He told himself inwardly that he had never laid eyes on a woman with a body as breathtakingly sculpted as Anisa's.

Anisa was a stunning maiden, much like Queen Badi'atul Nauwara, but slightly taller, with an even more majestic and voluptuous physique. She possessed a rare abundance of hair—not black, but naturally blue, a trait she was born with. Even the irises of her eyes were a mesmerizing shade of blue, which enhanced her beauty manifold. Because of this, she always adorned herself in blue attire. Everyone was in awe of her striking blue eyes and blue hair; no man could look upon Queen Anisa without being consumed by desire, unless he was unwell.

She took immense pride in this divine gift, to the extent that even her sisters whispered about it. Once, Queen Badi'atul Nauwara had told her, "My friend, if I were a man, I would rather die trying to win your love. If I lost you, I would remain a bachelor unto death, for there is none like you in the entire world—I have never even heard of such."

Anisa had burst into laughter, then hardened her face playfully and replied, "Whoever wins my heart has my pity."

Astonished, Badi'atul Nauwara had asked, "What do you mean you pity him?"

Anisa had smiled and said, "Before I consent to him and give him my love, I will put him through agonizing trials as if his soul were leaving his body, subjecting him to harsh tests."

Badi'atul Nauwara had asked, "What kind of tests could possibly be like that?"

Anisa had replied, "Those are secrets locked within my heart. I will tell no one; only someone with extreme attentiveness and sharp intellect will recognize them—or witness them firsthand when we are together."

The moment Anisa departed from the hall, the palace steward led the way, with King Shamsal and Sorcerer Daizur following close behind until they reached their quarters—a magnificent, standalone estate within the palace reserved specifically for visiting monarchs like King Shamsal. Every luxury and comfort imaginable had been prepared within, and attendants swarmed the place as if serving Queen Anisa herself.

Once King Shamsal and Sorcerer Daizur sat down in a spacious parlor, lavish and high-class dishes and drinks were brought before them. Instantly, a rich aroma filled the entire room. Sorcerer Daizur, completely losing control, flared his nostrils and half-closed his eyes in ecstasy.

As soon as the maids who brought the food turned and walked away, Sorcerer Daizur lunged forward, grabbing a massive roasted chicken leg to shove it into his mouth.

With a sharp bark, King Shamsal shouted, "Stop!"

Startled, Sorcerer Daizur dropped the chicken leg. King Shamsal glared at him furiously and snapped, "Have you lost your mind? Food has barely been set down and you are already lunging to eat?"

Summary

"Tarkon Mutuwa Book 4 (Part 4B)" continues the high-fantasy political drama. Secretly visiting Hatyan's quarters, Queen Badi'atul Nauwara is tormented by jealousy upon realizing Queen Anisa has provided them with luxurious, hidden quarters. Anisa promptly hides Badi'atul Nauwara in a secret subterranean vault behind a peacock mural while she faces the ruthless king. Anisa coolly calls his bluff, opening her entire palace to search and offering her life as collateral. Meanwhile, King Shamsal is visibly mesmerized by Anisa's striking blue hair, blue eyes, and regal beauty. The chapter concludes as the king and Sorcerer Daizur are settled into luxury quarters, where Shamsal sharply reprimands the ravenous sorcerer for prematurely lunging at their food.
