ANNATU SADDIQA COMPELET BOOK

She was a young girl of about 11 years old. She was walking continuously and in a great hurry. A heavy storm had gathered, as it was currently the rainy season. She kept glancing anxiously behind her. I, Maman Shakur, could not figure out what she was looking back at. She continued speeding along until suddenly, the rain began to pour down heavily, like water being emptied from a bucket. Caught off guard, she plunged into a large body of water. Suddenly, a woman stood at the edge of the riverbank, trying to catch her—a woman who was pitch-black in complexion...
With a sudden jolt, she woke up from the nightmare she was having, screaming at the top of her lungs. Her mother, who was on her prayer mat, rushed over, held her tightly, and began reciting prayers over her. The girl wept bitterly until sleep eventually overcame her again.
As the girl drifted back to sleep, her mother remained standing, deeply reflecting on how the life of her only daughter had turned out.
Alhaji Muhammad Nasir is the father of Anatu Siddiqa. Their parents had three children: himself, his older brother Alhaji Faruk, and their younger sister Hajiya Aishat. The children of the eldest sibling, Alhaji Faruk, are three: Mubarak and a set of twin girls, Fa'iza and Farida. Then there is Hajiya Aishat, who still does not have children of her own because she spent a very long time before getting married. Theirs is an educated family (yan boko); everyone has attained higher education. Right now, Mubarak, the son of Big Daddy (Alhaji Faruk), is at Oxford University in India, studying medicine, specifically specializing in gynecology. He is on the verge of graduating. He is a young man of about 29 years old. He is a fierce, short-tempered person who does not tolerate playfulness from children and possesses a strong sense of self-importance—that is Mubarak. He is a "black beauty" with a long nose, a broad chest, and a well-groomed sideburn/beard area that enhances his facial beauty and charisma. He has thick hair on his head, which he rarely shaves completely, choosing instead to trim it neatly, just like most doctors do ;). His younger twin sisters are 18 years old and are currently in their final year of high school (SS3) at Jarspok International School in Port Harcourt. ...Wow, my hand aches, let me rest a bit.
They are originally Hausa, but work brought all of them to live in Port Harcourt. They are a deeply united family who love one another profoundly. Due to a long period without children, Alhaji Muhammad and his wife, Hajiya Halemat, who married out of deep love, spent years yearning for a child. Eventually, Allah blessed them with a beautiful baby girl—the desire of everyone's heart. She was fair-skinned and named ANATU SIDDIQA, though she is fondly called ANA. A grand celebration was held, and a lot of money was spent on her naming ceremony day, where relatives and well-wishing friends joined them in immense joy. Thus, Ana grew up showing great intelligence and sharp awareness. However, by the time she turned 5 years old, she suddenly fell ill with a severe, burning fever. She was rushed to the hospital and received medical care until she recovered, but a devastating change occurred: from that moment on, Ana stopped speaking. She was taken abroad, and fortunes were spent on medical care, but it was all in vain. To this day, Ana cannot speak. Eventually, her parents resigned themselves to fate and left everything to the absolute will of Allah...
Continuing the story: the mother finished her reflections, offered a prayer for Allah to heal Ana, wiped her face, and came to lie down beside her.
When daylight broke at dawn, Mama woke up and woke Ana up to perform her prayers and take a bath. They read the Holy Quran together. After they finished, they went into the kitchen. That is how Mama is; despite their vast wealth, she does not spoil her daughter—she teaches her how to cook, especially since Daddy dislikes meals prepared by domestic servants anyway.

Chapter 4: Anatu Siddiqa

After they finished preparing breakfast, Mama said, "Ana, go and greet your Daddy and tell him breakfast is ready." Ana nodded her head and left. That is how Ana is; she understands everything you say to her and can hear perfectly, but Allah did not grant her the ability to speak. If she opens her mouth, only a scream comes out, but you will never hear a spoken word. She went to Daddy’s side of the house and knocked. As soon as Daddy heard the knock, he knew it was her and said, "Come in." She entered and found Daddy on the phone with Big Daddy. She stood and waited for him to finish the call. The moment he hung up, he opened his arms wide, and she ran into them, smiling. This was her unique way of greeting him. He asked, "How was your night, my Ana?" She nodded her head to signify "fine." He said, "Alright, let's go," and they walked to the dining area to eat breakfast. After they finished, she stood up, picked up her school bag, and rushed to their driver so he could take her to school, as she was on the verge of running late. After Ana left, Mommy looked at Daddy and said, "Alhaji, I am completely lost as to what kind of affliction is troubling Ana. Moreover, the girl has no voice to explain anything. I am very worried, I swear." She narrated the incident of the screaming nightmare from the previous night. Alhaji became deeply troubled as well, but he suppressed his worry to comfort his wife, telling her, "Ana has a clinic appointment at the end of this month. We will go, and whatever it is, they will examine her thoroughly." They continued chatting, and he informed her that Mubarak would be returning this week after completing his studies. She was overjoyed and prayed, "May Allah bring him back safely."

Chapter 5: Anatu Siddiqa

After Ana returned from school, Mum said, "Ana, go and get ready, we are going to Big Daddy's house." She jumped up quickly in excitement, happy that she would see the twins today. As she was walking away, Mum called out, "Come back," and when she did, Mum added, "Yaya Mubarak is back." Ana stopped and stared blankly at Mum, because she did not know Yaya Mubarak—he had left Nigeria when she was just 5 years old. Mum explained, "He is the twins' older brother." At this, Ana smiled and went to her room to get ready. She went into the bathroom, took a shower, and put on a long black atampa (African print) dress patterned with red accents. She put on red flat shoes and a red veil, looking incredibly beautiful, even without makeup, which she didn't know how to apply anyway. She came out and found Mum and Dad already fully dressed. Mum complimented her, saying, "My baby, you are looking gorgeous!" Ana smiled, hugged Mum, and they all set off together.
The moment they arrived at the house, Ana didn't even wait for her parents; she bolted inside at full speed. Because of her speed, she failed to notice someone ahead and collided heavily with him. She quickly looked up, their eyes locked, and she waved her hand in a gesture apologizing. Immediately after doing that, she fled further into the house. The man, however, was highly offended that a small girl had bumped into him so violently and didn't even know how to verbalize a proper apology. He turned around and followed her inside.
By the time she reached the living room, she found Big Daddy and Big Mommy sitting there, and she threw herself into their arms, smiling and filled with immense joy. Big Daddy asked, "Who did you come with?" She pointed toward the door with her hand. Just then, Mubarak walked in like a storm, his face contorted in absolute rage . Big Mommy asked, "Mubarak, what is wrong?" But before he could utter a word, Mum and Dad walked in, and everyone stood up in joyful greetings. Mubarak greeted Mum and Dad, and they asked about his studies. He replied that everything went excellently, and they showered him with blessings, to which everyone echoed, "Amen." After the loud excitement quieted down a bit, Mubarak asked, "Mum, where is Ana?" Everyone was deeply surprised by his question and replied, "Why, here is Ana right here." He turned around, looked at her, and fixed his eyes intensely upon her...

Chapter 6: Anatu Siddiqa

He kept staring at her intently but said absolutely nothing. He simply stood up and went to his room, his mind swirling with various thoughts...
A short while later, Ana stood up to walk into the inner parts of the house. She was completely unaware that he was standing right near the doorway. Running blindly, she crashed forcefully into him for the second time. This time, he grabbed her tightly because he saw she was about to run away again. He demanded, "Aren't you going to apologize to me?" She remained entirely silent. He repeated his demand, and only then did she wave her hand at him to signal "sorry." As she tried to bypass him to leave, he pulled her back and landed a fierce, resounding slap across her face—tass! She immediately burst into violent, agonizing tears, as the slap completely disoriented her; she had never felt the physical force of a grown man before.
Just as this was happening, the twins walked into the house and found her weeping bitterly while Yaya Mubarak stood there huffing in anger. They rushed forward immediately. Fa'iza pulled Ana into a tight embrace while Farida demanded of him, "What happened?" He replied furiously, "What kind of mindless, disrespectful girl is this? She crashed into me and refused to apologize! And since she saw me today, she hasn't even had the courtesy to greet me up till now!" Farida noticed that his temper was dangerously high, so she signaled to Fa'iza to take Ana inside. Farida then took Mubarak by the hand and led him to his private wing, since she was the closest to him among the siblings. She made him sit down and said, "Yaya, Ana cannot speak. She has become mute. She can hear perfectly well, but she is completely incapable of responding."
He froze. "What? You mean she cannot speak? What happened to her? How did it happen? Was she severely ill?" With tears in her eyes, Farida narrated the tragic story of the childhood illness that had stripped Ana of her voice. Hearing this, Mubarak felt a wave of profound sympathy for his young cousin, accompanied by a sharp pang of regret for hitting her. He said, "Sis, let's go so I can apologize to her." They walked together to the twins' room, but upon entering, they found that she had already fallen asleep. Fa'iza whispered, "Yaya, she cried so intensely that sleep just took her away." He merely offered a sad smile. Farida then said, "Sis, I'm starving. Let's go eat." They stood up and left the room, leaving Mubarak completely alone with the sleeping Ana. Yaya Mubarak stared at her for a long time and vowed silently in his heart: I swear by Allah, no matter where I have to search in this world, I will go there to find a cure for my wife, by the grace of Allah. He leaned down, kissed her forehead gently, and left the room.

Chapter 7: Anatu Siddiqa

The next day was Saturday. Ana was sitting on Mum's lap, crying throwing a spoiled tantrum because she wanted ice cream and it had finished. To make matters worse, Mum had sent their driver on an errand. Mum was begging her to be patient until the driver returned so he could buy some for her, but she kept crying while Mum tried desperately to soothe her.
From the front gate, Mubarak could hear the faint sound of muffled crying. He hurried inside, dropped off a friend at his wing, and went straight to Mum’s room. Upon entering, he found Ana crying over nothing. Mum said, "Oh, Mubarak, it’s you. Welcome." As soon as Ana heard Mubarak’s name, she instantly quieted down and behaved, vividly remembering the severe slap he gave her the previous day. He asked, "Mum, what was done to her to make her cry?" Mum explained, "She wants ice cream, but I sent Adamu the driver out." Mubarak looked at Ana, and she quickly cast her gaze downward out of absolute terror; she was now deeply afraid of him. Continuing his conversation with Mum, he said, "Mum, I have a friend who is a doctor named Ibrahim. He specialized in everything related to the voice. I want him to examine Ana." Mum smiled sadly and said, "Mubarak, don't stress yourself. There is no country abroad we haven't visited." He responded, "Mum, it is my duty to find a cure for her. Do not worry; by the grace of Allah, we will succeed."
Mum turned to Ana and said, "Stand up and follow him." Ana stood up slowly, looking incredibly terrified. Mubarak led the way, and she followed him to his wing. Doctor Ibrahim examined her, asked her to open her mouth, performed his medical checks, and said, "If possible, bring her to the clinic so she can run some tests." Mubarak assured him, "By Allah's grace, we will come on Monday." Ibrahim replied, "Excellent, I must be on my way." They walked out together so Mubarak could see him off. Ana also stepped out intending to return to her side of the house, but Mubarak ordered her to go back inside and wait for him. She complied. After Ibrahim left, Mubarak returned to the room and found her sitting on the floor, looking completely helpless and terrified. The sight almost made him laugh, but he controlled himself. He asked, "Why are you crying?" She looked at him but could not answer. He asked, "Do you want ice cream?" She nodded her head to signify "yes." He said, "You may go." She stood up and left immediately. He smiled to himself and prayed, O Allah, grant my wife healing so she can speak.
(Did you hear that? He called her his wife!:oops:)

Chapter 7 [Repeated Chapter Number in Original]: Anatu Siddiqa

After Ana left, Mubarak got dressed and drove to Kilimanjaro restaurant to buy her ice cream and chocolates. When he walked back into the house, he found her deeply engrossed in a cartoon, SOFIA THE FIRST on Disney Junior, smiling beautifully. In his mind, he thought: She is a very pretty girl, even though she is still small. A sudden piercing scream brought him out of his thoughts. He rushed into the room, demanding, "What is it?" She was screaming wildly and threw herself at him, clamping onto him tightly. He barked a stern command at her: "Calm down and show me what it is!" She pointed with a trembling finger toward a lizard on the wall. He quickly went over, cleverly caught the lizard, and threw it outside. When he walked back inside, Mum had come out of her room and asked, "What is the meaning of that scream? I was in the middle of prayers." He replied, "Mum, she saw a lizard and started screaming." Mum sighed, "That is exactly how she is—terribly cowardly! I swear, she cannot even sleep in a room by herself. I don't understand this extreme fear." He simply shook his head, handed Ana the ice cream, and she beamed at him with a wide smile. He smiled back and walked out.
Time moved fast. Ana was now 14 years old and had entered Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS 3). She was highly intelligent and academically excellent, though she remained mute to this day. Every single day she grew more beautiful; her features were filling out remarkably like a mature woman. They were constantly on the clinic road, as Yaya Mubarak took her for checkups regularly.
On this particular day, Dad received an emergency call regarding an international business meeting to be held in China. He insisted that Mum pack her bags to travel with him. Mum worriedly objected, saying, "But you know Ana is starting her final exams on Monday." Dad replied, "She will stay here with Mubarak." (I hope the readers haven't forgotten that Mubarak lives in their house? Because his parents went for a long time without a child, Big Daddy had given Mubarak to them to raise). Dad called Mubarak and informed him of the arrangement, to which Mubarak replied, "May Allah grant you a safe journey." When Mum told Ana, she burst into heavy tears. They drove them to the airport while Ana wept all the way. As their parents' plane took off, they returned to the parking lot. Her continuous weeping began to irritate Mubarak deeply, so he barked at her, "Shut up right now before I beat you thoroughly!" She fell instantly silent. They drove home, and along the way, she fell asleep. He stopped by a store to buy her ice cream and various sweet treats to keep her company and comfort her.
By the time they returned home, it was time for the evening prayer (Maghrib). He woke her up so she could pray, while he left for the mosque. When he came back, he found her sitting in the living room and asked, "Are you hungry?" She nodded her head "yes." He teased, "Do you even know how to cook?" She nodded her head enthusiastically with a smile, as she actually loved cooking. He joked, "No way, I can't eat your messy experiments (jagwalgwalo)." He went into the kitchen himself, boiled Indomie noodles for them, and brought it out. She ate, and he went back out to the mosque. When he returned, he found her watching cartoons. He said, "I'm going to take a shower." By the time he bathed and dressed, it was around 10:00 PM. Walking into the living room, he found she had already fallen asleep on the couch. Smiling, he lifted her effortlessly in his arms, carried her straight to her bedroom, tucked her under the blanket, lowered the air conditioner, and quietly locked her door before heading to his own room.
Around 12:30 AM, Ana woke up. She fumbled around the bed and realized she was completely alone in the dark. Instantly, intense terror gripped her, and she began to scream bloody murder. Mubarak was in his room, having just finished some research on his laptop. As he lay down, he thought, Let me go check on her. The moment he approached her wing, he heard her terrifying screams. He quickened his pace, rushed inside, and saw her completely panicked and trembling. He jumped onto the bed, held her firmly in a tight embrace, and called out repeatedly, "Ana! Ana! Be quiet, I am right here! Hush, stop being afraid." She calmed down slightly and immediately hugged him back with all her might, clinging to him desperately. The moment the man felt her breasts press firmly against his chest, a powerful shockwave of arousal sent chills through his entire body. He quickly pulled her off him, gripped her hand firmly, and said, "Let's go to my wing."

Chapter 9: Anatu Siddiqa

Holding her hand firmly, he led her straight to his bedroom, placed her on the bed, and tucked her in. He grabbed a pillow for himself and lay down on the floor. Before long, sleep overcame both of them. As soon as Ana felt he was fast asleep, she quietly crawled off the bed, lay down right next to him on the floor, and grabbed his hand tightly. That was her unbreakable habit: whenever she wanted to sleep, she absolutely needed to feel the physical presence of someone close to her. Thus, sleep overtook her as well.
The dawn call to prayer (Assalatu) woke him up, as was his routine. He looked down and saw Ana lying right next to him, sleeping peacefully while holding his hand tightly. Smiling warmly, he gently slipped his hand out of hers and sat on a chair just to admire her. She was wearing a pink pajama set with long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Her thick hair was beautifully scattered. Even though she was young, she possessed a striking mass of hair, a cute little mouth with pink lips like a foreign Caucasian girl, and a long, elegant nose. He kept staring at her, smiling, and thought to himself: When she fully grows up, she will be an extraordinary woman. He stood up, went to the bathroom, and performed his voluntary prayers (Nafila). Before leaving for the mosque, he woke her up. She sat up quickly, and he said, "Go and pray." She went to her family's wing, entered the bathroom, performed her ablutions, and prayed. Afterward, she picked up the Holy Quran and read it silently in her heart, staring at the pages. By the time she finished, it was 6:00 AM. She decided to lie down for a bit before Yaya returned from the mosque. The moment she lay down, deep sleep claimed her. When Mubarak returned and saw her sleeping again, he decided to leave her alone so he could get ready for his hospital shift.
While deep in sleep, Ana suddenly felt a sharp, painful cramp in her lower abdomen. She jolted awake. Upon sitting up, she felt a strange wetness beneath her, and her abdomen was aching intensely. She felt a sensation like fluid trickling down her lower body. Terrified, she quickly reached down with her hand, and when she drew it back, what did she see? Blood! Out of pure, unrestrained horror, she let out a piercing scream. The scream caused her lower abdomen to spasm violently. She crouched down in agony, and when the pain subsided slightly, she dragged herself out and walked toward Yaya Mubarak’s wing.
When she reached his door, she lacked the courage to enter, so she stood outside weeping bitterly, clutching her stomach. Mubarak, who was in the middle of putting on his clothes, heard the sound of Ana’s weeping. He thought to himself, What on earth has happened now? He opened the door with a serious facial expression, only to find her crying and holding her stomach in severe pain, unable to even stand upright. He pulled her inside immediately and asked, "What is the matter?" Weeping, she took his hand and placed it on her lower abdomen. He felt a shock of worry and asked, "Does it hurt?" She nodded her head "yes" and burst into an even louder sob. He asked, "What else?" Being a doctor, it didn't even cross his mind that this was her menstrual cycle; he simply assumed she had a severe stomach infection. Suddenly, she showed him her blood-stained hand and pointed directly to her private area (HQ).* The moment he realized what she meant, he panicked completely, even more than she did! And seeing him panic, Ana burst into an even more hysterical cry because she genuinely believed she was bleeding to death.

Chapter 10: Anatu Siddiqa

She burst into intense crying as her abdomen cramped severely again, forcing her to squat on the floor in tears. He rushed to grab a painkiller and gave it to her, saying, "Ana, stay here and wait for me. I’ll be right back." He dashed out of the house, wondering to himself if she had truly never experienced her period before, which would explain her sheer panic. He drove to a supermarket and bought her sanitary pads (LADYCARE) and a dozen high-quality underwear. He rushed back home and found her still weeping bitterly. Feeling profound pity for her, he called her name gently: "Ana." She raised her head and looked at him. He asked, "Is this your first time?" She nodded her head "yes." In his mind, he thought, No wonder she is completely terrified.
He took her by the hand, led her to the bathroom, and said, "Take a bath, I am waiting right here for you." He closed the bathroom door, went to grab a mop and water, and thoroughly scrubbed the bloodstains off the living room chair. He straightened up the entire room and sat down to wait for her.
When she finished her bath, she stepped out wrapping his towel around her waist down to her knees. He took one look at her and quickly averted his eyes. She came and sat close to him, and he handed her the package of sanitary pads. She just stood there staring blankly at it, because as far as she was concerned, she had absolutely no idea what to do with it. When he noticed her confusion, he himself became completely embarrassed and confused because, despite being a medical professional, he had no practical experience handling or applying sanitary pads. He took the pad back, read the printed instructions on the back of the packaging, took out a pair of the new underwear, peeled off the adhesive strip of the pad, and neatly affixed it inside the underwear. Only at that exact moment did Ana suddenly remember the reproductive health lessons taught to them in Basic Science class. Overwhelming embarrassment washed over her. Before he could even finish lifting the underwear to give it to her, she snatched the underwear and pad out of his hands and bolted like a lightning bolt straight back to her family's wing! :D:D Lol.
Mubarak was left standing there in utter shock, his mouth wide open. Then, a warm smile spread across his face, and he muttered, "Ah, childhood innocence. Otherwise, what is there to be so embarrassed about?" He walked into his bathroom, gathered her blood-stained clothes, washed them thoroughly, hung them up to dry, took a shower himself, got dressed, and headed over to her wing. When he arrived, he found her in the kitchen boiling Indomie. She refused to raise her head to look at him out of sheer bashfulness. He walked up to her and asked, "Ana, has the stomach pain stopped?" She covered her eyes completely with her hands and simply nodded her head. He smiled, walked to the living room, and sat down to watch Al Jazeera. When she finished cooking, she brought the food to the dining table, came over, took him by the hand, and led him to the dining table where they ate together.
However, the moment she finished eating, it was as if the pain had been waiting for her; her abdomen began to cramp violently again, and she burst into tears. He asked what was wrong, and she pointed to her lower belly. Feeling helpless, a clever idea struck him. He pulled out his phone and called the twins, Fa'iza and Farida, commanding them to drop whatever they were doing and come over immediately. The twins informed Mum, who told them to go, and their driver brought them over. The moment they arrived, Mubarak explained the situation: Ana had just started her period, her cramps were severe, and they needed to babysit her while he drove back to the hospital to fetch an injection to relieve her pain, since he didn't have that specific medication at home. They agreed, and he left. The twins walked into the room, and the moment Ana saw them, she threw herself into their arms, weeping bitterly.

Chapter 11: Anatu Siddiqa

She clung to them tightly, crying, while they coaxed and comforted her affectionately because they loved her dearly. Eventually, she quieted down as the pain lessened slightly. Farida asked, "Is today your very first day?" Ana nodded her head "yes." Farida asked, "You've been taught how to perform the ritual purification bath (wankan tsarki) at the Islamic school, right?" Ana nodded her head "yes." Farida told her, "Excellent. Whenever you see that the flow has completely stopped, you must take that ritual bath." Ana nodded in understanding. They continued to explain everything about menstrual health to her, and she understood perfectly.
As her pain subsidized, the twins fell into casual gossip. Fa'iza laughed and said, "Can you believe Yaya Mubarak? He lacks any sense of shame! He called us up directly and told us plain as day that Ana has started her period! I swear, when he was explaining it, I was the one dying of embarrassment!" Farida laughed and replied, "Oh, please! All doctors completely lack that kind of shame. If a doctor is shy, he can never perform his duties properly. Besides, if her cramps weren't this severe, he wouldn't even have known she started her period." They clapped hands and roared with laughter while Ana just sat there silently.
Suddenly, the cramps returned with a absolute vengeance, far worse than before. Ana began to pant heavily and collapsed to the floor, unable to stand up. The twin sisters panicked completely because they had never witnessed such severe dysmenorrhea. Out of nowhere, Ana became intensely nauseous and began violently vomiting all the Indomie she had eaten earlier. Farida, terrified, grabbed her phone and called Mubarak: "Yaya, where are you?! Please hurry up! She is in extreme pain!" Mubarak panicked over the phone and told her he was almost home. Farida hung up and rushed back to Ana's side. Ana finished vomiting but remained paralyzed on the floor, clutching her stomach tightly. Poor girl, she had no voice to describe the agonizing depth of her pain.
Just then, Mubarak burst through the door. He rushed in and said, "Farida, quickly fetch a fresh set of clothes so she can change out of this vomit-stained outfit!" They were all in a state of utter panic over their youngest cousin. Fa'iza lifted Ana up and began unbuttoning her shirt, completely forgetting that Yaya Mubarak was standing right there in the room. Mubarak quickly averted his eyes in embarrassment (Lol) and patiently waited until she was changed into the clothes Farida brought.
Mubarak then brought out a syringe and needle to give her the pain relief injection. The moment Ana saw the needle, she panicked and clamped onto Fa'iza with all her strength. He approached to administer it, but she let go of Fa'iza and tried to bolt out of the room. Mubarak intercepted her swiftly, pinned her firmly against his chest, gently pulled down the waistband of her trousers a fraction, and administered the injection. She wept loudly through it all. He comforted her softly: "It’s okay, it’s over. The pain will stop now, do you hear me? Stop crying." He gently rubbed her back.
The moment he lifted his hand to put away the syringe, Ana bolted instantly and hid behind Fa'iza. All of them burst into spontaneous laughter, realizing she thought he was going to give her a second injection. He then brought out oral medication and made her swallow it, which she did with great difficulty. Not even two minutes after taking the medicine, deep sleep overcame her. Mubarak lifted her gently in his arms, carried her to her bed, and laid her down comfortably.
He returned to the living room to join the twins. He asked them, "Is this how severe her cramps usually are?" Farida replied, "Yaya, she even vomited!" Mubarak explained, "It is medically normal. There are some women who experience severe dysmenorrhea accompanied by violent vomiting during their menstrual cycles. Others suffer from extreme back pain, and some even experience severe leg cramps. I must head back to the hospital because I have pending duties, but I won't stay long. When she wakes up, ensure you feed her." They nodded, and he left.
The twins went into the kitchen and prepared a highly delicious, healthy meal, brought it to the dining area, and sat down to continue their conversations...

Part 2: Detailed Plot Summary

The story revolves around Anatu Siddiqa (fondly called Ana), a beautifully fair-skinned 14-year-old girl from a wealthy, highly educated Hausa family living in Port Harcourt.

  • The Tragic Medical Background: Born healthy to her doting parents after years of childlessness, Ana suddenly lost her ability to speak at age 5 following a severe, burning fever. Despite fortunes spent on international medical care, she remains entirely mute, though her cognitive function and hearing are completely unimpaired.
  • Mubarak's Return: Her cousin, Mubarak—a 29-year-old brilliant gynecologist graduating from an Oxford University affiliate in India—returns home. He is portrayed as arrogant, quick-tempered, and strictly disciplined. Upon arrival, an oblivious Ana physically crashes into him twice, prompting a furious Mubarak to harshly slap her across the face for her perceived disrespect.
  • Guilt, Vows, and Medical Intervention: Upon learning from his twin sisters that Ana is actually mute, Mubarak is struck with devastating guilt and profound sympathy. He silently vows to travel the world to find a cure for her, affectionately designating her as his future "wife" in his thoughts. He brings his specialist friend, Dr. Ibrahim, to evaluate her voice and schedules clinical testing.
  • The Emergency Babysitting: When Ana's parents fly to China for an emergency business trip, Ana is left in Mubarak's care. Due to her extreme, childhood fear of the dark and isolation, she panics at night, leading Mubarak to let her sleep in his wing, where she physically clings to him on the floor.
  • The Menarche Crisis: The central climax occurs when Ana experiences menarche (her very first menstrual period). Terrified by the blood and agonizing abdominal cramps, she believes she is dying. A panicked Mubarak buys her sanitary supplies, leading to a highly comedic sequence where he manually preps her pad using the packaging instructions, causing Ana to flee in intense teenage embarrassment.
  • Medical Management of Dysmenorrhea: Ana's cramps mutate into severe, debilitating dysmenorrhea accompanied by violent vomiting. Mubarak summons his twin sisters for female support, swiftly administers an intramuscular pain-relief injection by pinning her to his chest, and leaves her to rest peacefully under the girls' care while he returns to his hospital duties.

  • Traits: Deeply loving and traditional despite their immense wealth. Mama is grounded—she actively rejects domestic helpers cooking for her family and forces Ana to learn culinary skills to prevent her from being spoiled. Dad is a high-flying international businessman.

    4. The Twins (Fa'iza & Farida)

  • Age/Status: 18 years old, SS3 high school students at an international school.
  • Role: Mubarak's younger sisters and Ana's cousins. They are lively, affectionate, and act as a crucial emotional bridge for Ana during her transition into womanhood, teasing Mubarak for his clinical, unabashed lack of shame regarding reproductive biology.

    Part 4: Advanced Analytical Commentary

    1. Sociolinguistic Breakdown of the Text

The narrative serves as a fascinating example of modern Hausa Popular Fiction (Littattafan Na Sarari), utilizing a hybrid structure of standard Hausa prose interwoven with Boko (Western educational) terminologies and modern internet formatting.

  • Authorial Self-Insertion: The recurring meta-textual insertion of "Maman Shakur 07032934950" along with authorial phone numbers and expressions of physical exhaustion ("wash hannuna na ciwo bari nahuta") is a signature trope of Northern Nigerian digital novella distribution. It builds a direct, communal intimacy between the writer and the digital reader.
  • Code-Switching: The characters seamlessly drift between Hausa and English phrases (e.g., "tell him breakfast is ready", "black beauty", "gorgeous"). This structural choice signals the elite economic status of the family, distinguishing them from traditional, rural Hausa settings.

    2. Cultural Paradigms & Gender Roles

The text balances traditional Islamic-Hausa values with progressive Western ideals.

  • The "Yan Boko" Dynasty: The text explicitly notes that the family is composed of Yan Boko (pro-Western education elites). This justifies Mubarak specializing in gynecology—a field traditionally viewed with immense cultural conservatism in conservative circles when practiced by men.
  • Domestic Grounding vs. Wealth: Despite the family's immense affluence, Mama intentionally rejects class insulation by teaching Ana how to cook and perform chores. This highlights a cultural anxiety within elite Hausa households: the fear that luxury will produce a woman incapable of fulfilling traditional marital expectations.

    3. Psychological and Biological Transitions

The story weaves a complex psychological narrative through the lens of medical crisis.

  • The Metaphor of the Mutism: Ana's mutism represents a state of literal and figurative powerlessness. Her inability to speak amplifies her vulnerability during her menarche.
  • The Catalyst of Menarche: The transition from childhood to womanhood is depicted not as a celebratory rite of passage, but as a terrifying medical emergency. The author uses Mubarak's medical lens to strip away the cultural taboo surrounding menstruation, converting it into a clinical discussion on dysmenorrhea, complete with instructions on wankan tsarki (Islamic ritual purity baths).
  • The Blurred Lines of Care and Romance: A highly intense subtext is the rapid shift in Mubarak's internal monologue from a paternalistic older cousin to a future suitor ("matana" / my wife). The physical intimacy of the medical treatment—pinning her to his chest to administer an injection and manually prepping her underwear—serves as the subconscious catalyst for this romantic framing, which is highly common in northern romantic fiction genres.
